Mantis 4 is the leading multi-point door lock range from lock specialist, Yale.
The faceplate is produced from hardwearing Grade 430 stainless steel.
The central lock case features a hook and reversible latch to provide positive latching and security. Multi-point security is provided by combination locking points at the top and bottom, consisting of a hook, a roller cam (on PVCu/aluminium doors) and a tapered deadbolt. When the locking points are thrown the cam, where present, engages first to start the process of pulling the door closed. The tapered deadbolt then aids this process, before adopting its security role along with the adjacent hook. These combinations ensure that the locking function is always smooth, whilst the proximity of the robust hook ensures that the locking points are very strong.
Locks for PVCu/aluminium doors have the option of either 2 or 4 cams. Locks for composite and flush timber doors do not feature rollers, so compression is achieved through the tapered deadbolts.
Many locks give the option of fitting additional vertical shootbolts and there is a Double Door Passive Leaf Lock.
The latch features a ‘hold-back snib’ operation that is activated by pressing in the latch with the door open and all the locking points are retracted. The latch will be held within the gearbox, ensuring free passage. To over-ride the snib, simply push the door closed and lift the lever to throw the locking points.
The one-piece striker plate is designed specifically for use on 13mm Eurogroove axis door profiles so the fixings will pick up on reinforcing.
The benefit of this is that the standard striker will perform as a security keep under test and attack, so there is no longer a need to offer both versions. Composite and flush timber doors are locked off by individual flat plates.
